Donkeys

The donkey is the principal means of transport here.
On market days, there is a constant stream of donkeys going to and coming from the local market. Donkeys make for a soicable ecological green transport.

Ploughing

Most of the ploughing here is done by a donkey, pulling a single wooden bladed plough, through the hard clay packed earth.

Life

The donkey here is an essential part of life for the local Berber population.

Donkey Trekking, or Walking

The donkeys can also be used for local trekking, carrying coats, picnics and tired walkers. There is a series of paths meandering through the mountains. A guide will take you out for the day; here you will be able to be at one with nature, eating out with a picnic provided by the gite. stopping to rest, take in the views and sip mint tea.
For those of you who are more adventurous, camp out and take a little more time.

Olives

Olives are still pressed here traditionally.
A donkey is used in the first process, where the olives are reduced to pulp ready for the hand pressing.
I say first, but truthfully the donkeys have probably already ploughed the groves and carried the olives to the mill! Of course this is a totally ecological green power souce and fair trade olive oil for the hotel.

Other Outings

Outings can be arranged to anywhere you wish. Local outings include; souks, (local markets) cascadesd'Ouzoud,(click on link for more imformation) local towns, Marrakesh, caves and olive mills.
